Regular Season Round 15: Toyota Alvark - Hokkaido L. 76-62

The game between Top Four teams took place in Tokyo. Second ranked host Toyota Alvark (9-6) defeated 4th placed Hokkaido L. (6-9) 76-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hokkaido L.. It looked good early as Hokkaido L. took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toyota Alvark had a 18-11 second period charge getting the lead and Hokkaido L. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-76. They outrebounded Hokkaido L. 47-31 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized American forward Ken Tanaka (188-81, college: Whittier) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Jeff Jeffrey (188-80, college: Otterbein) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark's coach Don Beck allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Hokkaido L. in the defeat. Defending champion maintains second place with 9-6 record having four points less than leader Aishin SH, which they share with Tochigi Brex. Hokkaido L. at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Toyota Alvark will again play against Hokkaido L. (#4) in Saporro in the next round. Hokkaido L. will have a break next round.
