The game with biggest result difference took place in Doha. Local Al Shamal (1-8) was outscored by fifth ranked Al Gharafa (6-3) 109-70 on Saturday night. Al Gharafa dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Al Shamal's 40. They outrebounded Al Shamal 44-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Al Gharafa looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty, agency: Norton Sports Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 10 assists and 5 steals for the winners and Egyptian guard Omar Salem (190) chipped in 23 points and 10 rebounds. Five Al Gharafa players scored in double figures. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Jonathan Huffman (213-86, college: Iona, agency: Gamble Sports Management) responded with 30 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Tommy Smith (182-90) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Al Gharafa moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Arabi. Al Shamal at the other side dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Al Ahli and Qatar. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Sadd.
