Regular Season Round 15: Wakayama T. - Hyogo S. 95-56

The game between Top Four teams took place in Wakayama. Third ranked host Wakayama T. (9-4) smashed 4th placed Hyogo S. (3-10) 95-56. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hyogo S.. The game without a history. Wakayama T. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Hyogo S.'s 32. They outrebounded Hyogo S. 46-20 including a 34-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Wakayama T. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Hyogo S.'s players. It was a great evening for American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota, agency: SportsTalent) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) helped adding 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Wakayama T. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman William Knight (196-79, college: UCLA) with 17 points and 7 rebounds and guard Tadahiro Yanagawa (183-86) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Wakayama T. maintains third place with 9-4 record having six points less than leader Aishin SH. Hyogo S. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. Wakayama T. are again looking forward to face Hyogo S. (#4) at home in the next round. Hyogo S. will have a break next round.
