Regular Season Round 7: GKS Tychy - AZS AWF K-ce 102-74

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tychy. Leader GKS Tychy faced 3rd placed AZS AWF K-ce. Host GKS Tychy (7-0) smashed guests from Katowice (4-3) 102-74. The game was mostly controlled by GKS Tychy. AZS AWF K-ce managed to win fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. GKS Tychy dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to AZS AWF K-ce's 26. GKS Tychy forced 21 AZS AWF K-ce turnovers. It was a great evening for power forward Tomasz Bzdyra (200-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Mariusz Markowicz (202-86) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Five GKS Tychy players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Lukasz Szczypka (185-80) responded with 25 points and 5 assists and guard Norbert Kujon (194-92) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. GKS Tychy have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group B with 7-0 record, which they share with GTK Gliwice. Loser AZS AWF K-ce dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Pogon Prudnik. GKS Tychy will meet Pogon Prudnik (#5) on the road in the next round. AZS AWF K-ce's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Katowice Mickiewicz.
