Regular Season Round 9: Monaco - Cognac 94-67

Date: November 16, 2013
Very predictable result when fourth ranked Monaco (6-2) smashed at home 14th ranked Cognac BB (2-7) 94-67 on Saturday. Monaco forced 21 Cognac BB turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Monaco especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Cognac BB's players. Naturalized Central African point guard Michael Mokongo (180-86) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 assists for the winners and Serbian forward Milutin Aleksic (203-82) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Monaco players scored in double figures. Monaco's coach Savo Vucevic felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Jean-Philippe Ludon (200-83) with 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Samba Dia (201-84, college: West Plains JC) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Monaco have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 6-2 record. Loser Cognac BB dropped to the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Monaco will face Saint-Brieuc (#16) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Cognac BB will play against Pontoise in Cergy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
