Regular Season Round 3: Denso Iris - Aishin AW 54-48

First defeat of league's leader Aishin Wings (2-1) against Denso Iris (2-1) 54-48 was the most important game of the last round. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aishin Wings won third quarter 12-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Denso Iris dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin Wings' 18. They outrebounded Aishin Wings 46-31 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led her team to a victory with 21 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Yuri Ushida (181-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Denso Iris' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Hitomi Takasaki (168-86) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and power forward Shiyu Sato (178-87) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Aishin Wings. Aishin Wings will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest. Denso Iris will try to continue on its current victory against Aishin Wings in Anjo.
