Regular Season Round 6: Hawks - Wildcats 76-89

NBL top team - Perth Wildcats (8-0) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat eighth ranked Wollongong Hawks (1-6) in Gwynneville 89-76. The game was mostly controlled by Perth Wildcats. Wollongong Hawks managed to win third quarter 29-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Wollongong Hawks 38-26 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman James Ennis (201-90, college: Long Beach St.) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import guard Jermaine Beal (191-87, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 24 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Rotnei Clarke (183-89, college: Butler) who recorded 20 points and naturalized American forward David Gruber (198-81, college: N.Iowa) added 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively. Perth Wildcats have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Wollongong Hawks lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with six games lost. Perth Wildcats will meet at home Kings (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Wollongong Hawks will play against Cairns Taipans (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
