Regular Season Round 16: Tochigi Brex - Hitachi SR 97-86

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (4-12) were defeated on the road by third ranked Tochigi Brex (10-6) 97-86. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Hitachi Sunrockers was better in third quarter 30-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Sunrockers' 42. It was a great shooting night for Tochigi Brex especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Hitachi Sunrockers' players. The winners were led by American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) supported him with 18 points and 5 assists. Tochigi Brex's coach Antanas Sireika used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 28 points and 7 rebounds by the former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Sunrockers. American forward Darius Rice (208-82, college: Miami, FL) added 15 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Five Tochigi Brex and four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Hitachi Sunrockers lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. Tochigi Brex's next round opponent will be Hokkaido L. (#4) in Saporro. Hitachi Sunrockers will play at home against the league's leader Toshiba Thunders and hope to win that game.
