Regular Season Round 4: Hitachi Cougars - Chanson V-M 83-109

WJBL top team - Chanson V-M (4-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Hitachi Cougars (0-4) in Hitachinaka 109-83. The game was mostly controlled by Chanson V-M. Hitachi Cougars was better in fourth quarter 26-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chanson V-M dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 44 and made 22-of-24 charity shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Chanson V-M forced 19 Hitachi Cougars turnovers and outrebounded them 43-21 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by the former international forward Kana Motoyama (180-90) who scored that evening 19 points and 5 rebounds and center Miyuki Kawamura (183-94) supported her with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Even 22 points by guard Kasumi Takahashi (167-87) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Cougars. Ai Tominaga added 20 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chanson V-M have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record, which they share with JX Sunflowers. Newly promoted Hitachi Cougars still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Yamanashi QB and Ebara Vickies. Chanson V-M will play against Ebara Vickies (#10) in Tokyo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Cougars will play on the road against Mitsubishi K. in Nagoya and hope to get finally their first victory.
