Regular Season Round 16: Toshiba BT - Chiba Jets 96-82

Leader Toshiba Thunders recorded the fourteenth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Chiba Jets (4-12) 96-82 in Kanagawa. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Chiba Jets was better in third quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toshiba Thunders shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Chiba Jets' players. The winners were led by American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Toshiba Thunders' coach Takuya Kita used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 32 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) did not help to save the game for Chiba Jets. Power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) added 19 points for lost side. Five Toshiba Thunders and four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders (14-2) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Chiba Jets lost twelfth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fifth place with 12 games lost. Toshiba Thunders' next round opponent will be Hitachi Sunrockers (#6) in Tokyo where they are favorite. Chiba Jets will play at home against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark and hope to win that game.
