An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tokyo. Second ranked Toyota Alvark faced 4th ranked Hokkaido L.. Host Toyota Alvark (10-6) defeated guests from Saporro (6-10) 84-70. Hokkaido L. was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 45-26 second half run of Toyota Alvark. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hokkaido L.'s 32. Toyota Alvark brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Hokkaido L. was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jeff Jeffrey (188-80, college: Otterbein) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The other American import forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Toyota Alvark's coach Don Beck allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Tomokazu Abe (180-85) added 11 points, 10 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Hokkaido L.Defending champion maintains second position with 10-6 record having four points less than leader Aishin SH, which they share with Tochigi Brex. Hokkaido L. at the other side keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Toyota Alvark will play against Chiba Jets (#5) on the road in the next round. Hokkaido L. will play against Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
