Regular Season Round 6: Polpharma - Trefl Sopot 66-92

Date: November 17, 2013
11th ranked Polpharma (1-5) was outscored at home by fifth ranked Trefl Sopot (4-1) with the biggest margin this round 92-66. The game was mostly controlled by Trefl Sopot. Polpharma was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trefl Sopot shot 61.0 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. It was a good game for the former international Pawel Leonczyk (202-86) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 5 rebounds. International swingman Adam Waczynski (199-89) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Five Trefl Sopot players scored in double figures. The former international center Cezary Trybanski (218-79) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds and American swingman Michael Hicks (195-83, college: Central Mo., agency: Court Side) added 15 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Polpharma. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Trefl Sopot have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with PGE Turow. Polpharma at the other side dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Trefl Sopot's next round opponent will be Kotwica (#8) in Kolobrzeg where they are favorite. Polpharma will play on the road against AZS Koszalin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
