Regular Season Round 7: Bnei Hertzeliyya - Hapoel Eilat 73-86

Rather expected game in Hod Hasharon where 6th ranked Bnei Hasharon (3-4) was defeated by third ranked Hapoel Eilat (5-2) 86-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Eilat. Bnei Hasharon was better in fourth quarter 29-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Hapoel Eilat especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Bnei Hasharon's players. It was a great evening for American forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Afik Nissim (186-81) helped adding 18 points and 5 assists. Four Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. Hapoel Eilat's coach Oded Katash used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American power forward Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and guard Aviram Zelkovits (193-89) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to second place. Loser Bnei Hasharon dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Hapoel Eilat will face Maccabi T-A (#4) in Tel-Aviv in the next round. Bnei Hasharon will play on the road against Maccabi Rishon (#12) in Rishon Le-Zion and hope to win that game.
