No shocking result in a game when third ranked Vicenza (4-1) crushed on the road bottom-ranked Alghero (0-6) 71-41 on Sunday. The game without a history. Vicenza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 6 points in first quarter. Vicenza dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 26. Vicenza forced 26 Alghero turnovers. It was a good game for swingman Laura Benko (180-83, agency: Players Group) who led her team to a victory with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Lucia Ferri (182-85) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Center Costanza Giorgi (185-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and guard Marika Zanardi (175-81) added 10 points in the effort for Alghero. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vicenza have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of North-East leader, which they share with Triestina and Udine. Alghero at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Vicenza will face San Salvatore (#5) at home in the next round.
