Everything could happen in Athens at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Panathinaikos and one of their biggest challengers Panionios had identical 4-1 record. This time Panathinaikos used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Athens 90-65 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. Panionios was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panathinaikos (5-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position behind leader Olympiacos, which they share with PAOK. Loser Panionios dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Panathinaikos will face Aris (#6) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Panionios' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Ilysiakos.
