No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Al Arabi (6-3) crushed bottom-ranked Qatar Sports Club (1-8) in Doha 98-73 on Monday. They outrebounded Qatar Sports Club 59-41 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Arabi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for American-Nigerian forward Kayode Ayeni (196-87, college: St.Francis, NY) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. Serbian-FYR Macedonian forward Nenad Zivcevic (204-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Ayeni is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Five Al Arabi players scored in double figures. American swingman Chauncey Leslie (183-81, college: Iowa) replied with 26 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Melquan Bolding (190-88, college: Fair Dickinson) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Qatar Sports Club. Al Arabi moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Gharafa. Loser Qatar Sports Club stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Sadd.
