Regular Season Round 6: Al Jaysh - Al Shamal 96-57

The game between third ranked Al Jaysh (5-4) and 9th ranked Al Shamal (1-8) in Doha on Monday ended with biggest points difference. Al Jaysh outscored guests from Doha 96-57. Al Jaysh dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Al Shamal's 30. They outrebounded Al Shamal 51-37 including 38 on the defensive glass. Al Jaysh looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for naturalized Lebanese point guard Fadi Hani Abilmoni (184) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. American center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Al Jaysh's coach Beau Archibald felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Tyvon Williams (182-87, college: S.Carolina St.) replied with 15 points and 9 assists and American-Jamaican guard Brian McKenzie (193-88, college: Providence) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Al Shamal. Four Al Shamal players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Al Jaysh went down to fifth position due to points difference, which they share with Al Khor. Loser Al Shamal dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. Al Jaysh's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
