Regular Season Round 13: Nitra - Levice 91-47

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Nitra as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Nitra smashed 8th ranked Levice at home 91-47. The game without a history. Nitra led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Levice to just 5 points in third quarter and to 13 points in second half. Nitra dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Levice's 28. Nitra forced 30 Levice turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Levice was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American guard Patrick Sparks (184-83, college: Kentucky, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Five Nitra players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Nick Wright (203-89, college: ODU) responded with 9 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import center Elijah Obade (206-91, college: Millersville) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Levice lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with ten games lost. Levice will play next round against Handlova trying to get back on the winning streak. Nitra will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked SKP Banska Bystrica on the road.
