Regular Season Round 17: Hyogo S. - Aishin SH 72-99

There was no surprise when 4th placed Hyogo S. (3-13) was outleveled at home by leader Aishin Sea Horses (18-0) 99-72 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Hyogo S. was better in third quarter 30-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hyogo S. to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Aishin Sea Horses looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. International guard Makoto Hiejima (190-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 7 assists. International swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) contributed with 23 points for the winners. American forward Carl Hall (203-89, college: Wichita St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import swingman William Knight (196-79, college: UCLA) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Hyogo S.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive series of eighteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-0 record. Hyogo S. lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth position with 13 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Mitsubishi Dolphins (#3) in Nagoya in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hyogo S. will play on the road against Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
