Regular Season Round 17: Tsukuba R. - Kumamoto V. 81-75

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Tsukuba R. (5-13) beat at home 6th ranked Kumamoto V. (3-15) 81-75 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-75. Tsukuba R. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Kumamoto V.'s 44. Croatian-Canadian center Ljubisa Vrcelj (210-84, college: Jacksonville) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) contributed with 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Lamont Jones (183, college: Iona) added 10 points in the effort for Kumamoto V.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Tsukuba R. maintains fourth place with 5-13 record. Kumamoto V. lost fifth consecutive game. Kumamoto V. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with 15 games lost. Tsukuba R. will face league's second-placed Wakayama T. on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kumamoto V. will play against Hyogo S. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
