Regular Season Round 5: Jiangsu D. - Fujian QB 95-104

Very expected game in Nanjing where 14th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (1-4) were defeated by tenth ranked Fujian (3-2) 104-95 on Friday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-13. But Jiangsu Dragons won second period 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fujian dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Jiangsu Dragons' 44. Fujian forced 21 Jiangsu Dragons turnovers. The best player for the winners was American center Will McDonald (211-79, college: S.Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 19 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Delonte West (192-83, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Fujian's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Garret Siler (213-86, college: Augusta St.) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and the former international point guard XueFeng Hu (185-80) added 15 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fujian. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Jiangsu Dragons keep the fourteenth position with four games lost. Fujian will face Bayi Rockets (#11) in Ningbo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Jiangsu Dragons will play on the road against Shanghai Sharks and hope to win that game.
