Regular Season Round 9: Aalstar - Kangoeroes 78-80

Kangoeroes' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after eight consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they edged much higher ranked Okapi Aalstar (5-4)on the road game in Aalst 80-78 on Friday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-78. It was a good game for American power forward Maurice Pearson (206-89, college: Georgetown, KY, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Luke Loucks (195-90, college: Florida St.) contributed with 12 points and 6 assists for the winners. Kangoeroes' coach Aleksander Peldic used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Da'Sean Butler (201-88, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Okapi Aalstar. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Kangoeroes maintains tenth place with 1-8 record. Okapi Aalstar at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Liege. Kangoeroes are looking forward to face higher ranked Leuven Bears (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Okapi Aalstar will play against the league's leader Spirou Charleroi where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
