The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (11-3) on the court of fourteenth ranked Poitiers on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Poitiers 86-80. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of SO Maritime Boulogne. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-80. Poitiers looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American-Dominican swingman Jeff Greer (196-79, college: Rutgers) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Senegalese forward Elson Mendy (200-85) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. American Deven Mitchell (196-84, agency: Interperformances) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Congolese point guard Loic Akono (176-87) scored 12 points and 6 assists. Five Poitiers and four SO Maritime Boulogne players scored in double figures. SO Maritime Boulogne's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Poitiers (6-8) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Hyeres-Toulon and Souffel. SO Maritime Boulogne at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Poitiers is looking forward to face Hyeres-Toulon (#12) on the road in the next round. SO Maritime Boulogne will play against JL Bourg (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
