Regular Season Round 14: Le Portel - Bourg 80-89
Date: November 22, 2013
Very significant was JL Bourg's (#5) 89-80 road victory against one of their biggest challengers Le Portel. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-22. But Le Portel won second period 26-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JL Bourg players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard O'Darien Bassett (189-86, college: Troy) notched 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by forward Charles Jackson (203-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific, agency: Court Side) did not help to save the game for Le Portel. Forward Wendell McKines (198-88, college: N.Mexico St.) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Four Le Portel players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JL Bourg have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Le Portel at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. JL Bourg will play against league's leader SO Maritime Boulogne in Boulogne-sur-Mer in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Le Portel will play on the road against Saint Vallier and hopes to get back on the winning track.
