Bottom-ranked Gansos (0-17) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 98-77 loss to seventh ranked Toros (8-2) in Ciudad de Mexico on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Gansos' 44. American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Puerto Rican point guard Lee Vazquez (173-91, college: Westfield St.) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American CamRon Clay (203-82) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and international forward Alejandro Zarco (205-85) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Five Gansos players scored in double figures. Gansos' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Toros have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Gansos still closes the standings. Toros will meet at home Lechugueros (#9) in the next round. Gansos will play against the league's leader Soles (#1) in Mexicali and hope to get finally their first victory.
