Regular Season Round 7: Al Jaysh - Al Gharafa 77-61

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Jaysh (#3) and Al Gharafa (#5). Al Jaysh (5-4) crushed visiting Al Gharafa (6-3) by 16 points 77-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Gharafa. Al Jaysh made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Al Gharafa 49-36 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 20 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Shawn Taggart (207-85, college: Memphis) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Al Jaysh players scored in double figures. American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty, agency: Norton Sports Management) came up with 25 points and 7 rebounds and Nigerian forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Al Gharafa in the defeat. Despite that victory Al Jaysh went down to fifth position due to points difference, which they share with Al Khor. Al Gharafa at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Al Arabi. Al Jaysh's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Sadd.
