Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Dublin: DCU Mercy (#4) and Meteors (#8). Meteors were smashed at home by 21 points 60-81 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. DCU Mercy made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Meteors turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American-British forward Meagan Hoffman (183-82, college: Adams St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The former international guard Sarah Woods (174-88) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Five DCU Mercy players scored in double figures. Swingman Karen Meany (170-93) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Jade Daly (-91) added 15 points in the effort for Meteors. DCU Mercy have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Brunell. Meteors at the other side keep the eighth position with five games lost. DCU Mercy will play against Brunell (#3) in Cork in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Meteors will play on the road against TM Hotel Cork (#5) to get more than just one victory in their record.
