Regular Season Round 8: Legia - Notec 89-57

An interesting game for Legia (7-1) which hosted in Warszawa one of their biggest challengers Notec (5-3). Second ranked Legia had an easy win 89-57. The game without a history. Legia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Notec's 28. Legia forced 19 Notec turnovers and outrebounded them 45-26 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Pawel Podobas (194-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Center Damian Cechniak (208-93) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Legia's coach Piotr Bakun felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Piotr Wisniewski (194-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and forward Karol Michalek (207-87, agency: Promotex) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Notec. Legia have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group A with 7-1 record behind leader Nowa Sol. Loser Notec keeps the third place with three games lost. Legia will face Korsarz Gdansk (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Notec will play against the league's leader Nowa Sol (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
