Regular Season Round 7: Lucca - Ragusa 59-64

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Lucca. Leader Ragusa faced 3rd placed Lucca. Guests from Ragusa (7-0) defeated host Lucca (5-2) 64-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lucca. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lucca won third quarter 18-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ragusa forced 24 Lucca turnovers. Lucca was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Riquna Williams (170-90, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ukrainian Olesia Malashenko (191-91, agency: LBM Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and Dutch power forward Naomi Halman (191-86, college: Cal-Irvine) added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Lucca. Ragusa have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Lucca at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Ragusa will play against Venezia (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lucca will play against La Spezia (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
