Regular Season Round 10: Sverresborg - Baerum Basket 79-106
Date: November 24, 2013
Bottom-ranked Sverresborg (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 106-79 loss to second ranked Baerum Basket (6-2) in Trondheim. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game was mostly controlled by Baerum Basket. Sverresborg was better in fourth quarter 31-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baerum Basket forced 23 Sverresborg turnovers and outrebounded them 39-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) notched 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists to lead the effort and guard Nils-Paul Skara (185-87, college: William & Mary) supported him with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Even 22 points and 4 steals by Polish guard Adam Kilian (183-85) did not help to save the game for Sverresborg. Australian forward Josh Garlepp (201-89) added 23 points for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Baerum Basket have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 6-2 record behind leader Ammerud Bskt. Newly promoted Sverresborg still closes the standings with nine games lost. Baerum Basket's next round opponent will be Asker Aliens (#6) on the road.
