Regular Season Round 7: Al Sadd - Al Arabi 82-91

Date: November 24, 2013
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#4) and Al Sadd (#2). Al Sadd was defeated at home 82-91 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Arabi made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Bosnian forward Adnan Hodzic (203-88, college: Lipscomb) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. American-Nigerian forward Kayode Ayeni (196-87, college: St.Francis, NY) helped adding 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Ayeni is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side international swingman Khalid Suliman (198-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds and Sierra Leonean-American swingman Alpha Bangura (197-80, college: St.John's, agency: Interperformances) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Arabi (6-3) moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Gharafa. Al Sadd at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Rayyan.
