Regular Season Round 7: Trefl Sopot - Kotwica 102-80

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Kotwica (2-5) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Trefl Sopot (5-1) 102-80. The game was mostly controlled by Trefl Sopot. Kotwica was better in third quarter 28-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Trefl Sopot players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Kotwica's players. It was an exceptional evening for international swingman Adam Waczynski (199-89) who led the winners and scored 27 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). International Michal Michalak (196-93, agency: INVICTUS Sports Group) accounted for 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Five Trefl Sopot players scored in double figures. Trefl Sopot's coach Mariusz Niedbalski felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Jessie Sapp (186-86, college: Georgetown) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for Kotwica in the defeat. Trefl Sopot have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with PGE Turow. Kotwica at the other side keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Trefl Sopot's next round opponent will be Energa Czarni (#4) in Slupsk. Kotwica will play at home against AZS Koszalin (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
