Regular Season Round 7: Orvieto - La Spezia 70-67

A very interesting game took place in Orvieto. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked La Spezia (3-3) to tenth ranked Orvieto (2-5) 70-67 on Sunday evening. The hosts were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 16-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. Orvieto dominated on the defensive end, holding La Spezia to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded La Spezia 37-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Darxia Morris (172-89, college: UCLA, agency: Merit Management Group) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 5 assists. Her fellow American import forward Aishah Sutherland (187-90, college: Kansas, agency: Two Points) accounted for 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Lindsey Moore (175-91, college: Nebraska) came up with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Silvia Favento (185-85) added 20 points and 7 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for La Spezia in the defeat. Orvieto moved-up to ninth place, which they share with San Martino. Newly promoted La Spezia dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Orvieto's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked C.U.S. Chieti (#12) on the road.
