Regular Season Round 6: Shanghai S. - Jiangsu D. 84-78
Date: November 24, 2013
Very expected game when 14th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (1-5) lost on the road to third ranked Shanghai Sharks (5-1) 84-78 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Jiangsu Dragons were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-16 charge of Shanghai Sharks, which allowed them to win the game. Shanghai Sharks outrebounded Jiangsu Dragons 51-33 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American Darnell Jackson (203-85, college: Kansas) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds. The former international center ZhaoXu Zhang (221-87, college: California) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. American forward Marcus Haislip (208-80, college: Tennessee) replied with 20 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import center Garret Siler (213-86, college: Augusta St.) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Jiangsu Dragons. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shanghai Sharks have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Beijing Ducks. Jiangsu Dragons lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with five games lost. Shanghai Sharks will face Bayi Rockets (#13) in Ningbo in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Jiangsu Dragons will play on the road against Xinjiang Flying Tige in Urumqi and hope to win that game.
