The game in Leuven was also quite interesting. Third ranked Base Oostende (6-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Leuven Bears (4-5). Base Oostende managed to secure a 6-point victory 76-70 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-15. But Leuven Bears won second period 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Serbian-Montenegrin guard Dusan Djordjevic (193-83, agency: Beo Basket) nailed 20 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (197-93) accounted for 13 points. American swingman Bradford Burgess (198-90, college: VCU, agency: Interperformances) came up with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Swiss Jonathan Dubas (202-91) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Leuven Bears in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Base Oostende. Defending champion maintains third place with 6-2 record behind leader Spirou. Loser Leuven Bears dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Base Oostende will meet Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#6) in the next round. Leuven Bears will play against Kangoeroes and hope to secure a win.
