Regular Season Round 7: Al Wakrah - Al Rayyan 70-85

D1 top team - Al Rayyan (9-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat seventh ranked Al Wakrah (4-5) 85-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Wakrah. Al Rayyan dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Al Wakrah's 34. They outrebounded Al Wakrah 43-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Rayyan players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Al Wakrah's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian center Jurica Zuza (207-78, agency: Alti Sport) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. The former international power forward Yasseen Ismail Musa (203-80) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Al Rayyan's coach Brian Rowsom used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Dalron Johnson (206-81, college: UNLV) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Rwandan-American guard Kenny Wilson (193-84, college: Boise St.) added 20 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Al Wakrah. Five Al Rayyan and four Al Wakrah players scored in double figures. Al Rayyan have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Al Wakrah at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Arabi.
