Regular Season Round 6: TianJin S. - DongGuan L. 105-101

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked DongGuan Leopards (3-3) lost to thirteenth ranked TianJin Steel (3-3) in Tianjin 101-105 on Sunday. DongGuan Leopards trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 32-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 101-105 at the end of the game. They outrebounded DongGuan Leopards 49-36 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. DongGuan Leopards were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Shelden Williams (206-83, college: Duke) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) replied with 32 points and his fellow American import forward Donte Greene (206-88, college: Syracuse) added 24 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for DongGuan Leopards. Five TianJin Steel and four DongGuan Leopards players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. TianJin Steel moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated DongGuan Leopards. TianJin Steel will face league's leader Guandong Tigers in Dongguan in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
