There was a minor upset when higher ranked Cimberio Varese (3-4) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Sutor Montegranaro (3-4) 88-83 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 29-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Sutor Montegranaro made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. The former international guard Daniele Cinciarini (194-83) fired 21 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Mardy Collins (198-84, college: Temple) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Sutor Montegranaro's coach Carlo Recalcati allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-Bulgarian point guard Kee Kee Clark (180-84, college: St.Peter's) produced 26 points and Nigerian-American swingman Ebi Ere (195-81, college: Oklahoma) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Sutor Montegranaro and four Cimberio Varese players scored in double figures. Sutor Montegranaro moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Cimberio Varese. Cimberio Varese lost third consecutive game. Sutor Montegranaro will face Juvecaserta (#14) in Caserta in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
