Regular Season Round 9: Znicz Basket - Kutno 88-80

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kutno (6-3) against eleventh ranked Znicz Basket (3-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Kutno was defeated by Znicz Basket in a tough game in Pruszkow 80-88. The hosts were already 18 points ahead at halftime and as many as 25 after three quarters before a 36-19 last quarter charge of Kutno cut the lead to 88-80 at the end of the game. Znicz Basket shot 30 for 43 from the free-throw line, while Kutno only scored three points from the stripe. Kutno was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for swingman Michal Wojtynski (193-89) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 5 assists. Michal Aleksandrowicz (192-89) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Mateusz Bartosz (203-87) answered with 10 points and 9 rebounds and guard Krzysztof Jakobczyk (182-86) added 15 points and 4 assists in the effort for Kutno. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Kutno's coach Jaroslaw Krysiewicz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Znicz Basket moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Astoria Bydg. Kutno at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Wilki Morskie and MKS DG. Znicz Basket will play against league's second-placed SIDEn Torun on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kutno will play against AZS PP and hopes to get back on the winning track.
