Regular Season Round 9: Agrigento - Firenze 74-68

Very predictable result when eighth ranked Agrigento (5-4) won against at home 15th ranked Firenze (2-7) 74-68 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-15. But Firenze won second period 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Agrigento won last quarter 18-14. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Firenze's 26. Naturalized Argentinian forward Albano Chiarastella (196-85) nailed 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and forward Fabio Mian (196-92) accounted for 22 points. Four Agrigento players scored in double figures. American-Kittitian swingman Kyle Swanston (201-86, college: JMU, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Riccardo Castelli (200-88) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Firenze in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Agrigento. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Chieti and Roseto. Firenze lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Agrigento will meet higher ranked Ravenna (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Firenze will play against Bari (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
