Regular Season Round 17: Chiba Jets - Toyota Alvark 69-83

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Chiba Jets (4-14) lost at home to second ranked Toyota Alvark (12-6) 83-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Chiba Jets was better in fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chiba Jets were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Jeff Jeffrey (188-80, college: Otterbein) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Yusuke Okada (185-84) contributed with 22 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners. American forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) answered with 25 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Chiba Jets. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyota Alvark have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 12-6 record having four points less than leader Aishin SH. Chiba Jets lost fourteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fifth position with 14 games lost. Toyota Alvark's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Hitachi Sunrockers.
