Regular Season Round 6: Guangsha L. - Beijing Ducks 97-94

CBA round 6 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Beijing Ducks (5-1) against twelfth ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (3-3) 97-94 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Beijing Ducks. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-19. But Beijing Ducks won second period 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions made 38-of-43 free shots (88.4 percent) during the game, while Beijing Ducks only scored nineteen points from the stripe. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions forced 22 Beijing Ducks turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Beijing Ducks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 4 assists. Taiwanese guard Zhijie Lin (192-82) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Zhejiang Guangsha Lions players scored in double figures. American power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) replied with 26 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Beijing Ducks. Beijing Ducks' coach LuLei Min rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Beijing Ducks at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Shanghai S.. They were replaced at the leadership position by Guangdong ST. Beijing Ducks will play next round against DongGuan Leopards trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Fujian in Jinjiang.
