Regular Season Round 9: Point Chaud - Sint Katelijne 61-60

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Division I took place in Sprimont. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Sint Kateline Waver (5-4) to sixth ranked Point Chaud (5-4) 61-60 in the game for the fifth place. Sint Kateline Waver was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 21-16 charge of Point Chaud, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sint Kateline Waver to just 5 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Sint Kateline Waver 50-28 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American center Drey Mingo (191-89, college: Purdue, agency: LBM Management) who saved her team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. point guard Julie Allemand (173-96) contributed with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Sara Leemans (178-88) answered with 32 points and the former international Anne-Sophie Strubbe (184-90) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sint Kateline Waver. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Point Chaud have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sint Katelijne. Sint Kateline Waver lost third consecutive game. Point Chaud is looking forward to face Basket Groot (#7) in Willebroek in the next round. Sint Kateline Waver will play at home against Tulikivi and is hoping to win this game.
