Regular Season Round 16: Toyama Grouses - Yokohama BC 65-70

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Toyama Grouses (12-2) against sixth ranked Yokohama BC (7-7) on Sunday night. Host Toyama Grouses were defeated by Yokohama BC in a tough game in Toyama 65-70. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Toyama Grouses. Toyama Grouses were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 22-14 charge of Yokohama BC, which allowed them to win the game. Yokohama BC outrebounded Toyama Grouses 44-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Omar Reed (200-87, college: Bluefield, agency: Norton Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Marquise Gray (206-86, college: Michigan St.) who added 21 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds and forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Yokohama BC moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Fukuoka Rizing and Shiga L-Stars. Loser Toyama Grouses still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Okinawa GK. Yokohama BC will meet Aomori Watts (#7) in the next round. Toyama Grouses will play against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
