Date: November 26, 2013
Bottom-ranked Hod Hasharon (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-72 loss to tenth ranked Hapoel Kfar Saba (4-3) in Kfar Saba on Tuesday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-14. But Hod Hasharon won third quarter 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Kfar Saba forced 23 Hod Hasharon turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Vernon Goodridge (206-84, college: La Salle) helped adding 9 points and 11 rebounds. Goodridge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American forward Nate Carter (200-83, college: Oklahoma) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and guard Asaf Dori scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Hapoel Kfar Saba moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Hod Hasharon lost their seventh game in a row. They still closes the standings with seven games lost. Hapoel Kfar Saba will meet higher ranked Kiryat Tivon (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hod Hasharon will play against Hapoel Afula (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
