Regular Season Round 9: Sozh Gomel - Impuls BGUIR 99-72

The game between Top Four teams took place in Gomel. Second ranked host Sozh Gomel (8-1) smashed 4th placed Impuls BGUIR (4-5) 99-72. The game was mostly controlled by Sozh Gomel. Impuls BGUIR managed to win fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sozh Gomel dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Impuls BGUIR's 36. They outrebounded Impuls BGUIR 38-18 including a 31-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian forward Sergei Dadukin (198-83) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. International guard Kiril Sitnik (190-89) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Coach Aleksander Poderachev's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Henadziy Zakhar (198-92) who recorded 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Denis Azaare (196-92) added 10 points and 7 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sozh Gomel maintains second place with 8-1 record behind leader Grodno-93. Impuls BGUIR at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Sozh Gomel will meet Svisloch (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Impuls BGUIR will play against Prinemanye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
