Regular Season Round 7: Shanghai S. - Bayi R. 89-71
Date: November 27, 2013
Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Bayi Rockets (2-5) were defeated on the road by third ranked Shanghai Sharks (6-1) 89-71 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Shanghai Sharks led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Bayi Rockets' 36 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Bayi Rockets 53-34 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shanghai Sharks made 12 blocks. It was a great evening for American Darnell Jackson (203-85, college: Kansas) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Ziqiu Liu (195-82) helped adding 17 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side the former international center ZhiZhi Wang (215-77) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Shuo Han (196-86) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Bayi Rockets players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Shanghai Sharks. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Beijing Ducks. Bayi Rockets lost their third game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with five games lost. Shanghai Sharks will face Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#7) in Hangzhou in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bayi Rockets will play at home against Xinjiang Flying Tige (#5) and hope to win that game.
