Regular Season Round 10: Spojnia - Stal Ostrow 72-59

Spojnia's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after nine consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Stal Ostrow (4-6) 72-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Spojnia. Stal Ostrow managed to win second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Spojnia outrebounded Stal Ostrow 37-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Swingman Jerzy Koszuta (192-82, agency: Promotex) notched 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Marcin Stoklosa (188-77) supported him with 11 points and 7 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Four Spojnia players scored in double figures. Spojnia's coach Ireneusz Purwiniecki used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 22 points and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) by point guard Tomasz Ochonko (184-86, agency: Promotex) did not help to save the game for Stal Ostrow. Guard Marcin Dymala (188-90) added 12 points for lost side. Spojnia maintains fourteenth position with 1-9 record. It was Stal Ostrow's third loss in a row. They dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. Spojnia will meet higher ranked Znicz Basket (#11) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Stal Ostrow will play against Wilki Morskie and hope to secure a win.
