Regular Season Round 17: Kyoto Hannar. - Toyama Grouses 77-84

An interesting game for Toyama Grouses (13-2) which played road game in Kyoto against second-ranked Kyoto Hannar. (9-6). Second ranked Toyama Grouses managed to get a 7-point victory 84-77. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 23-7 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Toyama Grouses dominated on the defensive end, holding Kyoto Hannar. to just 7 points in fourth quarter. It was a great shooting night for Toyama Grouses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Joho Masashi (183-82) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. American forward David Palmer (201-82, college: S.Utah) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Shun Watanuki (178-87) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Kyoto Hannar.Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyama Grouses maintains second place with 13-2 record having just -1 victories less than leader Akita NH which they share with defeated Kyoto Hannar. Kyoto Hannar. at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Hamamatsu P. and Oita H.Devils. Toyama Grouses will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kyoto Hannar. will play again at home against the league's second-placed Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
