There was a small surprise in Tampico where tenth ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (7-6) beat 8th ranked Huracanes (7-9) 90-86 on Saturday. Huracanes were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 31-22 charge of Halcones UV Xalapa, which allowed them to win the game. Halcones UV Xalapa had a 30-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Halcones UV Xalapa especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 69.2 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican forward Kevin Young (203-90, college: Kansas) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds and the former international swingman Jovan Harris (191-81, college: USF) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American forward Ken Horton (199-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) responded with 30 points and international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) scored 13 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones UV Xalapa moved-up to eighth place. Huracanes lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Halcones UV Xalapa are looking forward to face higher ranked Abejas (#3) in Guanajuato in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Huracanes will play on the road against Angeles (#11) in Acapulco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
